Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated

The Dhyani Chapter at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte

The UNC Charlotte Dhyani Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon represents the first multicultural sorority in the nation. Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated was founded on November 21, 1981, at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Since it was established, MSU has provided women with a means of progress and empowerment while celebrating diversity. Mu Sigma Upsilon takes great interest in the growth and enrichment of the surrounding communities. Their founding mothers’ primary goal was to create an organization that focused on the needs of every woman, regardless of race, religion, class or creed. The Dhyani Chapter continues this vision today within the Charlotte community through the sorority’s three main goals: academic excellence, unity among all women, and to be active in the university and community.
